Director of Total Rewards

Purpose of the Position

An experienced Director Total Rewards will advise on the best practice for total reward processes, contributing to the planning, design and implementation of compensation and benefit programs. Managing and collaborating with internal and external partners on the devising of new and existing total reward schemes and implementing changes where necessary is a main responsibility for the Director Total Rewards.

Duties

The role of a Director Total Rewards conducts research into best practice total reward schemes, reviewing existing schemes and identifying areas of improvement. As well as this responsibility, you can expect your duties to include the following:

  • Represent the total rewards team in all compensation matters, such as market midpoint analysis, the structure of local incentive plan designs and the support of the company bonus program process.

  • Advise best practice of the commercial business rewards programs and provide assistance where needed.

  • The Director Total Rewards will be responsible for assessing any reward compliance related matters, offering advice on key subjects.

  • Plan and direct the implementation of all benefit plans.

  • Partner with the HR team and leadership on the review of all total reward packages.

  • Assess the effectiveness of current programs in relation to the company objectives and implement change where necessary.

  • Streamline time away and leave processing by partnering with legal, local HR functions, and Synergy partners as necessary

  • Remains current on health management trends, best practices, and regulatory issues in order to provide proactive consultation to management and serve as an internal employee health expert. Partners with Synergy Workers Compensation and Benefits department to help provide guidance to centers on FMLA, ADA, Disability, Return to Work guidelines.

  • Collaborates with W/C and Benefits team to provide data regarding W/C and Leave trends.

Key skills and qualifications

  • Expertise in managing multiple projects with competing priorities and multiple stakeholders is essential for this role.

  • A strong knowledge of salary practices/legal restrictions in a various states.

  • Ensure the pay and benefits packages are in compliance with state and federal regulations

  • Consistently assess the competitiveness of our compensation program through market analysis and tracking creative compensation schemes

  • Strong understanding of total rewards best practices particularly in compensation, market pricing and job architecture

  • Design reports that monitor total rewards costs and provide executive leadership with data needed to understand trends and budget impacts

  • Benchmark individual positions (inclusive of new and existing positons) on an on-going basis to establish competitive salary grades and ranges.

  • Experience of advising on rewards related M&A due diligence and post deal integration matters is essential for this role.

  • Expertise with multiple survey providers

  • A strong knowledge of Job Evaluation principles and benchmarking methodologies is essential.

  • Strong project management, analytical, organisational and excel skills are essential.

  • Exceptional attention to detail is required for this role.

  • The ability to set realistic deadlines and expectations is a skill that is required for this role.

Education & Experience

  • Prefer a minimum of 5 years human resources experience in long term care in a multiple facility capacity.

  • Must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Human Resources or related field.

  • Must have intermediate personal computer skills to include electronic mail, record keeping, routine data base activity, word processing, spreadsheet applications, graphics, etc.

  • Must possess the ability to work independently.

  • Must possess exceptional team building and people skills.

  • Must possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Must possess the ability to cope with the stress associated with changing census and workload pressures.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to prioritize and time-manage effectively for self and others.

  • Must be knowledgeable of computer systems, system applications, and other office equipment.

  • Must possess the ability to deal with a wide range of personality types, ages, and diverse cultural backgrounds.
